Blue Ivy Carter was born less than a week ago but she has already made chart history.
The daughter Jay-Z and Beyoncé birthed on Saturday (January 7) has become the youngest person to receive credit for a charting song, according to Billboard.com, as her wailing cries appear on Jay’s recently-released track “Glory.” Billed as “featuring B.I.C.,” the abbreviation of Blue’s full name, “Glory” entered the Jan. 21 R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at No. 74.
Jay-Z isn’t the first artist to feature his newborn on a track. Stevie Wonder had his daughter Aisha’s coos immortalized in his own “Isn’t She Lovely” song when she was born. But Blue Ivy Carter is considered the youngest because, 1. Aisha was never officially credited on “Lovely” and 2. the song did not reach a Billboard chart (Adult Contemporary at No. 23 on Jan. 29, 1977) until almost two years after her birth.
“Glory” arrives as the week’s highest new entry on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs with 1.7 million audience impressions on 54 radio stations, according to Nielsen BDS. The cut also coincidentally marks Jay-Z’s 107th career entry on the survey, the same numbers as the Jan. 7 birth date of Blue Ivy.
